ITS Michigan Board honors RCOC's Bair
Bair, who is retiring from RCOC at the end of 2011 after more than 34 years with the agency, is a founding member of ITS Michigan, former ITS Michigan president, and has served on the ITS Michigan Board since the organization's founding in 1995. The resolution noted that Bair has served in numerous state and national positions representing the ITS-related interests of his agency and the state as a whole. These have included serving as a board member and chairman of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (the national parent organization for ITS Michigan), serving as the chairman of the ITS Congressional Caucus Advisory Committee (advising US congressmen on issues related to ITS) as well as testifying before Congress on the topic of ITS. ITS America is the not-for-profit organization that fosters the use of advanced technologies, known as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). ITS America is the leading advocate for ITS technologies that improve the safety, security and efficiency of the nation's surface transportation system. ITS Michigan members include private corporations, public agencies and academic institutions involved in the research, development, design, sales, installation and deployment of ITS technologies. The organization provides a central point of contact where representatives of industry, government and academia can find common ground and work together toward mutual ITS-related goals. In addition to advocacy, ITS Michigan provides a forum that allows a diverse group of people to provide insight on current ITS projects as well as develop and refine ideas for the future. -- # # # -- |
